Artist Biography

My artwork takes a critical view of social and cultural issues. I investigate themes such as sexuality, aging, gender, war, genealogy and physical concerns. My art practice conveys an investigation into sensitive subject matter and challenges the audience to confront these issues head on. As I gain direction in my art practice, I employ a variety of media when addressing multiple themes; painting, sculpture and printmaking allow an essential characteristic of my artistic examination. An active exploration through an interdisciplinary execution, offers a rendering of form and detail in both my 2D and 3D creations.

Much of my time becomes immersed in the research and investigative process in order to defend the contemporary significance of my work. Source material is important to my art, it tends to inspire creative interpretations and offer the realistic clarification I strive for. My 2D work takes on an animated flair due to the colour and toon shadowing. It is predominantly figurative with a realistic approach and technical execution, complementing the dramatization of complimentary colours. Creating work with various styles, materials and processes allows my imagination and passion to flourish. The continual reinvention of interest only solidifies my dedication to art, thus permitting my practice to remain consistent.  I labour quite deliberately and consciously, employing both a traditional and perceptive approach.
